News:

Coming up in Episode 208.......it's almost here! After 7 episodes and nearly two months of Doctor Who on Saturday evenings, the final episode of series 7 airs this coming weekend. Join us in the campervan as we review THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR!  My money's on Bruce.....

Feedback always welcome (keep it brief!) at feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com - audio feedback under two minutes is prefered and stands a far better chance of making it onto a future DWP.

Did RiverSong say that the Chelonians and the Drahvins will be a part of the Pandorica opening?!?

Talk about two odd and obscure monsters!

I think the whole list in a single episode... errr two parter... is an unusal combination.  The full list is in order that River Song lists is:

Daleks
Cybermen
Sontaran
Slitheen
Chelonian
Nestene
Drahvin

Chelonians= race of cybernetic humanoid tortoises, not yet canon ?

Nestene= Autons as featured in Spearhead from Space, Terror of the Autons and Rose ?

Drahvin = First doctor Monster ?

Yes, the Drahvins were an all-female (well except for the few male slaves) race of aliens that The First Doctor encountered in Galaxy 4.

I was just saying that them and the Chelonians are two very odd monsters to be brought in for the finale.

Have the Chelonians any tie-in to Tomb of the Cybermen

The Chelonians are a race that Gareth Roberts created for the Virgin New Adventures novels.  They have no connection to the planet Telos that I am aware of.

What about the Weevils, is this the first time a monster that originated elsewhere/spin off appears in DW ?

To be honest I can't see all these aliens appearing in the finale. Also weren't the Draconians technically good guys. I need to go rewatch pertwee...

The Draconians really weren't simplistically good or bad.  The Draconian Empire was something of a rival to the Earth Empire, and were nearly instigated into a war with Earth, but they were presented as a civilisation every bit as complex as our own who were simply looking out for their own best interest and following their code of honour.

It would be fairly easy to include a Draconian as an enemy in any sort of "rogues gallery" setting, as their characterisation allows for there to be any number of good or bad individuals from their ranks as much as you can have any number of good or bad humans.
