Miracle Day is a horrible title, in my opinion.

Agreed. It gives the impression that the whole of the new series is occurring in a single 24-hour period, a conceit that should only be associated with Keifer Sutherland IMO. You could get away with naming an episode "Miracle Day", but you invite ridicule and derision when you make it the subtitle of your new series.

After "Death of the Doctor", I had actually raised my expectations of RTD, but now I must send them plummeting again.

Captain Jack Bauer?  Urg.

It did kind of serve them well to make Children of Earth about a single story arc over a small number of days. Affords more development one can get out of a single episode.  I suppose that's why there are a number of two-part Doctor Who eps.

Just think how much more could have been brought to "Fear Her" if they'd made that into a two-parter! <grin>

Have read more about RTD's Miracle Day plans and as it's following the precedent of Children of Earth (a single continuous story told in multiple parts), I suppose the subtitle is less aggravating than I'd previously thought.

In most contexts, "miracle" is generally considered a good thing, but since this is Torchwood, I'm guessing RTD will be investing it with a far less positive meaning. Given the depth of darkness that suffused CoE, "far less positive" could be a massive understatement.

So maybe this is Miracle in the "Miracle Whip" sense?

Speaking of, I've been trying to decide whether I want to special order some of this salad cream I keep hearing about. They don't just keep it on the shelves here.

Anybody have any recommendations for or against?

Also been thinking of trying to replicate L'ouef a la Doctor based on what's visible in The Lodger.

Whoa...this kind of went off-topic, didn't it?  Maybe this beer is a little too...beerful.

Just a tad! If you must have discussions about what to include in your shopping list, keep in the general section please.

Will it have Captain Jack in, or any of the original Torchwood Cast? tbh, I hate it when they make new people the focus of series because it feels wrong :/

Jack and Gwen are both returning. Wouldn't expect to see any other 'old' Torchwood characters because... well, they're all dead. And apparently staying that way.

Last week saw the first official poster (which appear to be all the rage these days!) released by Starz for Miracle Day. It announces broadcast date in the United States as Friday 8th July 2011. The accompanying press release indicates the broadcast time will be 10pm EST/PST. The UK broadcast date has yet to be confirmed.

And Tom Price as Sergeant Andy. I don't see how he fits into covert CIA ops, so I'm guessing he'll feature in the Cardiff-based episodes. Also, his jurisdiction doesn't reach across the Atlantic.

I like the idea of keeping characters dead. I'm a comic book fan over here in America and the companies love to kill characters off and then later bringing them back. With how well written the deaths of the Torchwood characters were it would be an insult to bring them back somehow.

I would dispute the term "well-written" with regard to the death of Tosh and would readily welcome any plot device that brought her back (somewhat ironic given the premise of Miracle Day), but I'm with you the rest of the way.

Poster art can be seen here

http://www.sfx.co.uk/2011/03/23/torchwood-miracle-day-poster-art-revealed/

IMO, it's one of the naffest posters I've seen in a long time and immediately lowers my expectation of what the series is going to deliver.

I agree with one of the commentators on SFX, it reminds me more of Dangermouse....

Big comic book fan, too, and I agree.

I used to have a saying "In comics, nobody is dead forever, apart from Bucky and Uncle Ben"

...and then they brought Bucky back.
