News:

Coming up in Episode 208.......it's almost here! After 7 episodes and nearly two months of Doctor Who on Saturday evenings, the final episode of series 7 airs this coming weekend. Join us in the campervan as we review THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR!  My money's on Bruce.....

Feedback always welcome (keep it brief!) at feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com - audio feedback under two minutes is prefered and stands a far better chance of making it onto a future DWP.

Most of the trailers for Miracle Day have only been viewable if you live in America, but website 'Den of Geek' has a new viewable trailer Here!!

It looks very promising!

Ooh, a dissenting voice on "Children of Earth"! How delightful. Michael, I think the DWP needs to have you on sometime to pursue this further.

My one concern about "Miracle Day" (other than my usual concerns about any new Torchwood/RTD series) is that it's going to wreak havoc with RTD's love of killing off TW characters. I'm sure he'll find a way around this, but it almost seems like he devised this premise for the sole purpose of keeping him from killing people off.

Looks pretty good. Very very American though, so the tone will be different.

I've always been of the same view about CoE - far, far too bleak and depressing for me!

I think it depends how you come at it. Seen in light of the usual Doctor Who fare it's horrible. In fact even compared to previous Torchwood, it's a completely different kettle of fish. But that's largely because previous Torchwood couldn't distinguish 'adult' from 'teenage'.

But I think as a standalone piece of drama it was excellent. I think you could have completely removed all DW/Torchwood branding from this and with only minor tweaks released it as a one off Sci fi drame series and it would have had an equally good reception.

For me it is more or less the only part of Torchwood that fulfilled the originaly stated objective of being 'Adult Doctor Who'. I liked series one and two, but they were pretty much disposable bubblegum sci fi with sex and swearing, which isn't really my idea of 'Adult'.

Presumably it's being shot in HD, so any NTSC version would be a downmix and therefore a seperate copy to what we would see? As far as I know HD is a global standard with no difference between the UK and US.

Unless of course they deliberately colour (un)balance it to meet American viewers expectations! :)

I am soo in love with Torchwood, but when i had heard that they were bringing it back, my first thought was. "oh, great." but after seeing the trailer, i've changed that thought to "OMDR!" ( Oh My Doctor Who) i know dorky) Not only does it look fun and fantastic, but the sets are great, the story is well played, and the characters haven't changed (well, besides Gwen and her baby. i hope that doesn't mess up the whole Torchwood act.) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is set in the US and on Starz, which is a tv channel i get! SOOOO HAPPY AND EXCITED!!!   :) :D ;D

Obviously with a story arc season this isn't going to include revelations, but I hope someone remembers that there are some major Captain Jack secrets still to be revealed including:

1) What are Time Agents anyway?
2) Why did they steal some of his memories?
3) How can they explain Jack's immortality when John Barrowman starts to look older?

I wouldn't hold you breath about any long term Jack mysteries being solved in this series. I think this will be presented as almost a standalone with no prior knowledge required for new readers. I think any back reference will be in passing, so I doubt we'll see major reveals.

Does anyone know of any way to watch this for someone who doesn't have cable or satellite.  I get all my new Doctor Who through Amazon Instant View - I'd love to also get the new Torchwood this way.  Or Hulu, Vudu, etc.  If anyone has heard anything, please let me know.
