Coming up in Episode 209......Tom and Ian take you back through the eight episodes that were Series 7b.

Feedback always welcome (keep it brief!) at feedback@thedoctorwhopodcast.com - audio feedback under two minutes is prefered and stands a far better chance of making it onto a future DWP.

Missing episode recons

Bill I didn't think a dvd of The Daleks MasterPlan existed at all - even in German.  Either you're talking about The Missing Episodes or the BBC would very much like to hear from you.

I suspect someone has burned a recon of the story onto DVD.

Without wishing to go off topic, a lot of my collection is on old VHS videos
and several very scratched DVDs from other fans over the years.
I try to purchase original DVDs when in England, my latest was "Timelash"
for £5 and several VHS videos for 50p each from charity shops.
otherwise, I have a German friend who lets me visit her of a Sunday afternoon
and we watch episodes from her collection.

I collect all classic TV (mostly BBC) from about 1960 until 1989, Red Dwarf,
Dads Army, Ivanhoe, Robin Hood, captain Scarlet, Tomorrow People,
Blakes Seven, Colditz, Danger UXB, Space 1999 and Dragnet etc.

Cheers, Bill.

Hi Floyd, I have access to a limited collection of Recon stuff.
Sadly, I do not have any missing episodes, I have gone
through over 600 VHS videos of cassic TV and my 16mm Film collection.

Cheers, Bill.

I think this is an interesting subject in it's own right, so I've split it off into another thread

Our very own James does another podcast all about Dad's army, which you might want to check out!

I was in contact with James last month and he kindly sent me the link, I have been following
the 80 or so podcasts starting at the beginning and I have reached 30 already. I was able to
buy the full DVD set when I was in England two years ago for the bargin price of £35, I believe
that the original price was about £80?

My 1987-1989 VHS project

In the summer of 1987 I knew that I was going to be moving to Germany and I knew that I would
have no access to UK TV. So I started a project where I recorded ANYTHING that was on TV at the
time, the idea was to simulate watching a normal evenings TV, this included leaving everything in,
the news, adverts, trailers to shows, christmas specials, anything that was shown in a three hour slot.
This project ran to some 300 VHS videos (I recently watched the 1988 Lenny Henry Christmas Special).

Cheers, Bill.

Strewth - so for you it's kind of 1989.  Sounds okay to me.
Is the recon stuff any good?

We purchased a satelite system in 2010, I am close enough to the UK ( 3 miles from the Dutch border)
that we are able to get ASTRA 2, so we are well within the UK TV sat footprint. Futher south, say
another 100 miles and we would be having difficulties. As it is our dish is 3 foot wide.

My knowlege of the English language has remained in the 80s, I do not know many of the new phrases
and some say my English is old-fashioned. (The said that the Soviet spy Blunt´s Engl. remained 60s style).

The Recon stuff, (I do not own any personally, but my friend does) seems to be very good, I have
had no problems following the storyline. It is like an audio version with pictures added. If it is the only
way to watch the missing episodes then it still is the best option. I intend to obtain some for my own
collection, I have not got around to it yet, but will do so later.

Cheers, Bill.

four thousand year old trumpets, dvds in German of lost Who videos - you never cease to amaze.  Myself, I'm an English teacher with an interest in idioms.  I'm always noticing anachronisms in movies set in the past in which the characters use modern idioms.  You know the sort of thing; it's supposed to be 1925 and someone is aying 'we have a situation' or using some Yiddish-derived bit of grammar like 'what, you didn't think I should worry about this?' .  It's really annoying when someone says something that I know people didn't say twenty years ago, let alone eighty.  So I find the idea of someone whose English is trapped in the 80s very interesting.

cheers, Floyd

Hi Floyd,

Quote

I do not have any lost episodes, when I refer to viewing lost episodes
I am infact refering to recons by Loose Cannon.
Much of my early episodes contain German subtitles (which I ignore when watching).

It gets even more interesting if I were to tell you about my "Time Bubble Project". I am interested
about social history in the 1930-1949 period, I have created a room where there are no modern items,
where old style furniture is to be seen, gramophones, bookshelves with nothing after the 40s on them.
a radio from 1933 which is connected secretly to a PC and plays old news broadcasts and music.

Link to the 1933 radio project....  http://www.bills-bunker.de/200601.html

Something I often wonder about is surely there should be tons of old Off air film recording in 8mm out there ? These days they could be wonderfully enhanced

I think the chances of getting anymore official 16mm tele prints might be slim now.

Were there rumours of colour camera tests done near the end of season 6 in the studio shoots of "the space pirates" ?
