Fantastic. Matt Smith is the Doctor with no doubt about it. The story is great, the new companion is great, and mainly everything is great. Except the special effects for the eyeball weren't excellent...

I really liked the scale of this first episode.  I like the eleventh docotor just getting himself together (and trying to get the tardis working the way he wants - some chance).  It is interesting the way moffatt gradually pulls one into the story (the theme of the crack in the wall is good, an unseen threat that will become clearer the more the series goes on).

It took me some time to get into, and although the guard and the guard dog was fairly frightening but that wasn't really the point, the point was the doctor showing his new character off and the new friendship with the fiesty Amy, will get more to do the more the series goes on.  I like Matt Smith, he looks really destinctive (big chin) he speaks well and is extremely fliud in the way he moves (great hands).  A really promising start, in perhaps not the best story (but that's not really the point).

Pity the crack has been carried over into Beast and Victory in a frankly poor way. Fingers crossed for Flesh and Stone...

How lucky are you poms. When do you think us Aussies will get to see Matt  :'(

When do you think Spain is going to see Matt? Or any Doctor Who, for all that matters. I always have to wait until the new episodes are available on the Internet. Sometimes the wait is long... And it gets on my nerves!  :D

I enjoyed the eleventh hour on the whole -more than I had expected, to be honest. David Tennant was my Doctor, and it was sad for me to see him leave the series. However, it came as a surprise to me to find out that I did want to see more of this new Doctor's adventures. Plus, so far, I'm loving the character of Amy Pond: she has a bit of Marha's intelligence and Donna's spirit in herself, and she doesn't seem to be irrevocably in love with the Doctor, which is a bit of a plus -at least to me.

Carey Mulligan. She played Sally Sparrow and I thought she was an amazing actor. She's also pretty too which companions seem to have to be so yeah. Unfortunately I think she played too major a role to become the next companion unless she comes back as Sally Sparrow that is :P

Yes please!

BBC America showed the Eleventh Hour again tonight, and I noticed something.

I don't know if this was intentional or not...   If the team was just using the same sound effect or not or this was a plot point...

The scene where Amy and the Doctor are running through the town.  The Duck Pond...    The tweeting birds from the Dream Lord was playing during that bit of dialog.

Assuming that this wasn't a coincidence (which it could very well be), this does open a lot of other doors..

[Spoiler warring for those who haven't seen Amy's Choice and Cold Blood yet]

That could well be relevant. The Doctor made a point of a Duck Pond with no ducks. Just the sort of detail you'd neglect in a dream.

Which would make the Dream Lord/Doctor the cause of the Silence and the Crack.

A multi-threaded series of story arcs, just like the light spilling from the crack in Cold Blood.

I just watched The Eleventh Hour again and I noticed several things.
First, the duck pond of course. What is the significance of the duck pond without ducks? Will it be explained, ever?

Then the crack in the wall. This wasn't the same kind of crack as the other ones throughout series 5; yes it looked exactly the same, but this one was a portal to some other world, where prisoner zero's prison was. The others were all cracks in time that ate up things and memories.
And Amelia remembered her parents. It was later explained that her parents disappeared because of the crack in the wall, but then she wouldn't have been able to remember them; they would have been erased from existence.
No, definitely not the same kind of crack.
