Welcome to Episode 295 of The Doctor Who Podcast!

Join the team as they geekout over the latest Who News, talk about how to deal with being self-conscious when dressed as The War Doctor in a coffee shop, talk Daleks versus Mechanoids in a review of Big Finish‘s The Juggernauts and re-visit Bill Pott’s introduction in a retrospective of Season 10’s The Pilot – the opening episode of Peter Capaldi’s final series as The Doctor

Several of our wonderful listeners have spotted that our Series 2 episodes are little longer (in the case of Episode 294, a *lot* longer!) than they were back in the olden days. The move to a monthly release schedule has allowed us to record more segments and produce longer episodes.

Not every episode of the DWP will use the multi-segment/multi-host format of #293 to #295 – we will mix it up a little occasionally to keep you (and us) on our collective toes! However, including the “contents” of each Episode in the show notes will allow you to locate/skip to or over a specific segment if you choose. We are looking at introducing chapter markers in future episodes, but in the meantime here is a list of segments in this episode:

00:00 to 16:35 Introduction and news (James, Phil and Ian)
16:35 to 32:05 Big Finish: The Juggernauts review (Drew and Michele)
32:10 to 58:17 Cosplay: what, why, how and does it cost loads? (Phil, Stephen and Drew)
58:17 to 01:14:37 Featured Episode review – The Pilot (James, Phil and Ian)
1:15:12 Outro (James, Phil and Ian)
1:18:48 VAM!!

Happy New Year to all our wonderful listeners! Yes, we’re back from our Christmas break and headlong into some Big Finish plays.  Join Trevor and Michele as they review the second Sixth Doctor and Flip trilogy from Big Finish, specifically Antidote to Oblivion by Philip Martin, The Brood of Eyrs by Andrew Smith and Scavenger by William Gallagher.

If that wasn’t enough, Ian also drops by to join Michele for the last in our series of reviews of Eighth Doctor, Charley and C’rizz plays, Memory Lane, Absolution and The Girl Who Never Was.

We’ll be back next week with our traditional New Year predictions episode.

Enjoy the show!

Join Trevor, James and Michele as they go through the vast swathes of questions you’ve been sending in to us!  From Doctor/Companion mash-ups to tales of Trevor’s jaunt to the UofK, no subject is off limits!

Ian also drops by to join Michele in their journey through the Eighth Doctor, Charley and C’rizz Big Finish stories with their review of Something Inside.

We’ll be back next week with a review of the Christmas special, Last Christmas.  Now that’s a time-wimey sentence if ever there was one….

Enjoy the show.

Join James, Leeson and Luke from the Minute Doctor Who Podcast as they chat about wobbly daleks and a shouty Davros. Ian and Michele chime in with their review of Other Lives as they continue their onslaught through Big Finish’s Eighth Doctor, Charley and C’rizz stories.

We’ll be back next week with our preview of series eight!  Not long to go now…..

Join James and Trev as they travel back to 1985 and talk Daleks. Revelation of the Daleks to be precise. But before they make the short-hop to Necros, they discuss last week’s announcement that Deep Breath will screen in cinemas across the globe, talk about Big Finish adapting some of Virgin’s Missing and New Adventures books and head into the annex where Ian and Michele wax lyrical about Big Finish’s Eight Doctor and Charley play, Scaredy Cat.

Enjoy the show.

Join Leeson, Ian and Michele as they travel back in time to Christmas last year, when the second of the two highly anticpated 2013 Matt Smith episodes aired for the first time.  Has the relatively short period since broadcast had an impact on the Campervan’s occupants opinion of the story? Has the seven months been kind to it?!  Find out in the final instalment of our Regenerations Series!

Ian and Michele also dive into a new Big Finish range, the third series of the Fourth Doctor plays.  This time around, The King of Sontar is put under the microscope.

Join Leeson and James and they take a look at the first new series non-Doctor regeneration story, Utopia.  Just how wonderful was Derek Jacobi?!  Masterful.  They also go through the tail end of the questions that you wonderful listeners have sent in for us to answer.  And the mystery of where Leeson comes from is cleared up once and for all.

Ian and Michele are back as they review the last Big Finish Eighth Doctor and Charley play set in the Divergent Universe, The Next Life.

Join us next week for the next in our Regenerations series – it has the word ‘Time’ in it. And ‘of’. Hmmm.

Join James and Leeson as they sit down to enjoy Colin Baker’s first full outing as Ol’ Sixey, The Twin Dilemma.  Consistently voted the worst Doctor Who story of all time, does the story get any love thrown it’s way at all?  Tune in to fine out!

Ian and Michele reach Caerdroia and the end of the fourth series of 8th Doctor and Charley Big Finish stories.

Enjoy the show.

Join Trev, Michele and Tony in the DWP Campervan as they talk about the most jolly, happy and positive Doctor Who story of all time. Hooray!

Ian and Michele continue their trek though the Eight Doctor and Charley plays from Big Finish, and reach The Last. No, not the last play, the play *called* The Last. Geddit? Good!

Enjoy the show.
